Change is Good!

Or is it? You've probably heard that people fear change. If this is actually true, why do people resist or even hate change? I suppose other than the obvious fear of the unknown, a loss of control could factor in, if there are circumstances beyond your control causing the change. Just ask any one of my kids who have had to move to a new town (and sometimes state!) several times! (Which I must note, their resilience, strength, and adaptability is beyond admirable! Each and every one of them!) Fear of the unknown can certainly invoke a resistance to change. There is probably also a loss of familiarity, uncomfortableness, and perhaps simply a lack of understanding that can cause a negative reaction to change.

On the flip side...we DON'T generally resist change when we expect the change to make our lives better. Most of the time we embrace it, as long as there's something in it for us. And while it's true there are varying degrees of change, some good and some bad, we truly are made to adapt.

Deep down human beings really do love change. We actively seek it out. It's just how we're wired. And isn't that a good thing?! Imagine entering our second half of life and never changing (growing) out of our teen years of thinking and behaving? Granted we probably all know of someone who hasn't (haha!). BUT for the most part we have all changed in some way or another. And that IS a good thing! I have always said that if I knew then, in my younger years, what I know now, how differently I could have done things. However, twenty years from now, I could say the same thing...and so on and so on.

The reality is change is not an event. It is a psychological experience. It's always growing and shaping us. Hopefully for the better!

Why are we wired to adapt to and even desire change? For starters, the Creator knew it would be completely necessary for our survival throughout our lives. Nothing stays the same! But ultimately, we are wired this way to be continually changed into what (or who) we are created to be - to go from glory to glory - to be ever-increasing in glory - to be conformed to the likeness of Christ - increasing in the character and nature of God.

God, the Creator of all things, who He Himself is unchanging, loves us just the way we are. But He loves us too much to leave us that way! What a beautiful thing!!

So all this talk about change reminds me of why this is on my mind to begin with! I have changed my web address to something simpler ... blossombodyproducts.com . I have also refreshed my website a little just for fun! Why? Because change IS good :)
