Perfectly Imperfect

It's been said that it's the imperfections that make things beautiful. Especially when it comes to homemade things! The fact that it's 'made at home' and not in a factory or store, gives it it's uniqueness and beauty (and perhaps imperfections). Imperfections can be faults or blemishes. But isn't beauty in the eye of the beholder? So what is faulty or full of blemishes to one, may be simply beautiful to another. And the truth is, the main ingredient in anything homemade is LOVE.

This makes me think of God's love for us. In this season of celebrating Christmas, we reflect on the amazing and unselfish act of God's love for us as He brought His Son into the world to free us from our sins. If we were born into this world, we were born into sin. And there's not a thing any of us can do about it. No amount of trying to be perfect, work, or good deeds will free us! "Everyone has sinned and fallen short of God's glorious standard." Romans 3:23

BUT the Good News is that God loves us despite our imperfections. So much so that He sent His Son to free us! Can you even wrap your mind around that kind of love?!? And the best part is that it is offered to each and every one of us. It's kind of like a wedding invitation that goes out to all, and we get to decide whether or not we'd like to accept that invitation and attend. Wow.

So how do we RSVP? Understanding that you need saving (repentance), then believing (receiving), and surrendering (submitting). The easy part is believing, but if we're honest, the tough part for us is the surrender and submitting part; to live for the Lord and not for this world anymore. Not easy but well worth it....eternally worth it!! "For whoever will save his life will lose it; and whoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it." Matthew 16:25

In this season of reflection, I am thankful for homemade things. I am very thankful for God's steadfast love for us through our imperfections. I'm thankful to be made with love.
